Fertility blog
Acupuncture to support fertility is one of my most popular treatments and one that gives me great joy and pleasure when sent scan pictures or meeting our acupuncture babies in person!
Trying to conceive can be extremely stressful. Acupuncture and fertility are increasingly linked as more people look for natural ways to support their reproductive health supporting the body and mind. Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or preparing for IVF, fertility acupuncture is commonly used to support hormonal balance, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing.
What Is Fertility Acupuncture?
Fertility acupuncture is a specialised form of acupuncture designed to support reproductive health. It focuses on regulating the menstrual cycle, improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, and supporting hormonal balance.
From a Western medical perspective, acupuncture may help by influencing the nervous system, improving circulation, and supporting hormone regulation — all of which are essential for fertility.
How Acupuncture Can Support Fertility
Acupuncture for Hormonal Balance
Hormonal balance plays a vital role in fertility. Acupuncture for hormonal balance may support:
• Regular menstrual cycles
• Ovulation
• Conditions such as PCOS
This makes acupuncture for trying to conceive particularly helpful for those with irregular cycles or hormone-related fertility issues.
Acupuncture for Blood Flow and Uterine Health
Acupuncture may increase blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, supporting:
• A healthy uterine lining
• Egg quality
• Implantation
This is one reason acupuncture for IVF is often recommended before and during treatment cycles.
Acupuncture for Stress and Fertility
Trying to conceive can be stressful and stress can negatively impact fertility by disrupting hormone levels. Acupuncture for stress and fertility works by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to:
• Reduce cortisol levels
• Improve sleep
• Lower anxiety
Many people report feeling calmer and more emotionally supported when using fertility acupuncture.
Acupuncture for IVF and Assisted Conception
Acupuncture for IVF is widely used alongside assisted reproductive treatments. Research suggests acupuncture before and after embryo transfer may support IVF success by improving blood flow and reducing stress.
Fertility acupuncture can be adapted to each stage of IVF, including stimulation, transfer, and recovery.
Acupuncture for Male Fertility
Acupuncture for male fertility is often overlooked but can play an important role. It may help support:
• Sperm quality and motility
• Hormonal balance
• Stress reduction
Fertility acupuncture can benefit both partners when trying to conceive.
What to Expect From Fertility Acupuncture Treatment
I recommend weekly sessions for 8-10 weeks, this will cover 2-3 menstrual cycles, I would then recommend monthly sessions pre ovulation until you conceive. This will be adapted if assisted conception to suit your protocol.
About Me – An Integrated Approach to Health & Wellness
About Me – An Integrated Approach to Health & Wellness
Hello, and thank you for stopping by. I’m Laura — a nurse, acupuncturist, and holistic health practitioner with over 20 years of experience helping people regain balance, comfort, and confidence in their wellbeing.
My Journey into Holistic Healthcare
I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. Caring for people felt natural to me, qualifying as a nurse in 2001 was one of my proudest moments. But after a few years in practice, something didn’t sit right. I found myself giving painkillers, followed by more medication for the side effects, and yet four hours later many patients were still in pain.
We weren’t addressing the root cause — we were only masking symptoms.
That frustration led me to explore health promotion, preventative care, and alternative therapies, which eventually brought me to acupuncture. I qualified as an acupuncturist in 2005, and from day one I knew I had found the missing piece. Acupuncture and nursing studies has given me a unique perspective on health allowing me to combine the clinical knowledge I gained through nursing with a holistic, healing-centred approach that genuinely supports long-term wellbeing.
I understand the importance of clinical rigour and scientific evidence, while also recognising the need for treatments that support the body as a whole. My approach ensures that each client receives safe, informed, and deeply personalised care — whether they come to me for physical concerns, hormonal balance, fertility support, or general wellbeing.
Inspired by Real People, Real Stories
Throughout my career, it has been people’s stories and life journeys that have motivated me — none more so than couples struggling with fertility. Listening to the challenges they face, the emotional toll, and the barriers to starting a family had a profound impact on me. Seeing how acupuncture could improve their outcomes and restore hope is what cemented my passion for this work.
Today, much of my practice focuses on:
• Fertility assistance
• Menopausal symptom management
• Pain management and chronic conditions
What Clients Say
The feedback I receive — which you can read on my website, booking system, and Google — is a testament to how acupuncture and holistic therapies have made a positive, lasting impact on people’s lives. Their words remain the most meaningful part of my job.
